Free Like A Bird
There is something beautiful with watching a bird like this on the birdbath. I took this picture from our kitchen window one day I was home. I love nature with its flowers, open spaces and creatures big and small. But in particular birds are fascinating. This one here in particular. Without a care in the world, he swooped down from a tree branch and helped himself to what the birdbath had to offer. It wasn't much, but it was enough to quench his momentary thirst. Then he perched himself in a regal way to admire the beauty of his surroundings. In a few moments, he'd fly off to the closest tree to escape unforeseen dangers. Doesn't this remind you of Jesus' words in the Gospel: "Do not worry about your livelihood, what you are to eat or drink or use for clothing. Is not life more than food? Is not the body more valuable than clothes? Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more important than they?.. Stop worrying then over questions like, "What are we to eat, or what are we to drink, or what are we to wear?".. Your heavenly Father knows all that you need. Seek first his kingship over you, his way of holiness, and all these things will be given you besides. Enough then of worrying about tomorrow. Let tomorrow take care of itself. Today has troubles enough of its own." NAB Mt.6:22-34
Sometimes it pays to look out your kitchen window.. God may be passing by.
