I went out to a birthday dinner tonight. My brother turned 50 today. Traffic was bad at the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, an hour and a half , to be exact. It was a long trip for me on a rainy Friday afternoon but it was a special family celebration and I wasn't driving. I jokingly said, "this is a long trip just for a piece of pretzel and a cup of tea!" but I actually had more than that- a lovely shrimp fettuccine Bavaria plus a great company of friends. Tomorrow is our Day of Recollection- a day of prayer, silent Eucharistic adoration, rest and silence. I always look forward to days like these. It has been a long busy week.. It is also my catch up day for spiritual reading. I have a pile of books waiting to be read.
