Ash Wednesday

The ashes from today's liturgy have probably been washed -off by this time.  We have officially began Lent.  For the next 40days, we will be entering fully into this holy season to prepare for the great feast of Easter.  Life can get busy even in the convent.  There is even more temptation to allow oneself to be immersed in the works of ministry because we think of it as works done for God.  But we need this time of reflection and silence.  I pray that God would bless my efforts to be more immersed in Him and to create the space He needs to refresh me, invigorate me and give me the self-knowledge I need to be more united to Him.  "A pure heart  create in me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me."
